महाराष्ट्रातील सामाजिक आणि राजकीय क्षेत्रातील एक अभ्यासू नेतृत्व, ज्येष्ठ समाजवादी विचारवंत आणि 'युवक क्रांती दला'चे (युक्रांद) संस्थापक डॉ. कुमार सप्तर्षी यांचे ८५ व्या वर्षी पुण्यात निधन झाले. अहमदनगर जिल्ह्यातील राशीनसारख्या दुष्काळी भागातून येऊन त्यांनी उभ्या महाराष्ट्रात सामाजिक न्यायाची आणि परिवर्तनाची चळवळ उभी केली. त्यांचे संपूर्ण जीवन संघर्ष, सत्याग्रह आणि समाजपरिवर्तनासाठी समर्पित होते.
जीवनप्रवास आणि कार्य:

युवक क्रांती दलाची स्थापना: १९६७ मध्ये त्यांनी पुण्यात 'युवक क्रांती दला'ची (युक्रांद) स्थापना केली. त्या काळात तरुण पिढीला दिशा देण्याचे मोठे काम या संघटनेने केले. बेरोजगारी, शिक्षण शुल्कवाढ आणि सामाजिक विषमतेविरुद्ध त्यांनी अनेक यशस्वी आंदोलने केली.

राशीन कम्युनचा प्रयोग: ग्रामीण भागात परिवर्तनासाठी त्यांनी 'राशीन कम्युन' हा अभिनव प्रयोग राबवला. गावच्या सामाजिक आणि आर्थिक वास्तवाचा अभ्यास करण्यासाठी त्यांनी पदयात्रा केल्या आणि सावकारी, जातीय वर्चस्व व सत्तेच्या केंद्रीकरणाविरुद्ध आवाज उठवला.

राजकीय संघर्ष: डॉ. सप्तर्षी केवळ आंदोलक नव्हते, तर त्यांनी विधिमंडळातही काम केले. १९७८ साली ते अहमदनगर शहरातून आमदार म्हणून निवडून आले होते. आणीबाणीच्या काळात त्यांनी लोकशाहीसाठी मोठा लढा दिला आणि त्यादरम्यान त्यांना तुरुंगवासही सोसावा लागला होता. त्यांना आपल्या सार्वजनिक जीवनात ३५ पेक्षा जास्त वेळा अटक झाली होती, जी त्यांच्या ध्येयवेड्या स्वभावाची साक्ष आहे.

वैचारिक वारसा: ते केवळ कार्यकर्ते नव्हते, तर एक संवेदनशील लेखक आणि प्रभावी वक्ते होते. 'सत्याग्रही विचारधारा' या मासिकाच्या माध्यमातून त्यांनी आपले पुरोगामी विचार जनसामान्यांपर्यंत पोहोचवले. महाराष्ट्र गांधी स्मारक निधीचे अध्यक्ष म्हणून त्यांनी गांधीवादी विचारांचा वारसा पुढे नेला.
एक समर्पित व्यक्तिमत्त्व: डॉ. कुमार सप्तर्षी यांनी आपल्या वैद्यकीय पेशाकडे दुर्लक्ष करून समाजकारणाला प्राधान्य दिले. त्यांनी आयुष्यभर जातीवाद आणि विषमतेच्या विरोधात रस्त्यावर उतरून लढा दिला. त्यांच्या जाण्याने महाराष्ट्रातील समाजवादी आणि गांधीवादी चळवळीचा एक बुलंद आवाज हरपला आहे, अशी भावना राज्यभरात व्यक्त होत आहे.
